I'm going to be building a computer soon, but I really want to get a laptop. Of course, if I get a laptop, wifi will be my biggest concern.

1) Is there any plan to include WiFi support in SkyOS?

2) Is there any plans to support the NDIS specification, like they do with Linux cards that have no driver?

WiFi is not intended to be included with 5.0 well that has been the general concensus to this point, unless the teams views have changed.

I don't want to start a discussion here, but I think Robert should think about including wifi anyway.
You see, some ppl have it now... but i think when 5.0 is about to be finished it's going to be widely used. It would be a pitty if sky didn't support it then. Also.. because sky is aiming to be a desktop OS .... so not servers ... I think it's important to support laptops as much as normal pc's
(maybe this should be discussed in "general discussion" with a poll or something )

WiFi in the home doesnt tend to be very secure on my street there are 3 wifi networks none of them locked down you can just stroll onto the street with a laptop and get free internet lol

Why are you saying this? I looked the posts over and over again, but I didn't find any question about security. Ah well, anyway, maybe wireless networking is a lot more difficult than wired networking, so that may be a reason why Robert isn't looking at it now.

We tried wireless here, but it simply is so unreliable and crappy, we had to give up on it.

I was happy to go back to wired. Easier, cheaper, and better.

to me wifi in its current state is.....well crap but in my oppinion skyos 5.0 should be as complete as possable wifi included.

WiFi in SkyOS simply comes down to time. If we have enough of it, we will attempt to implement it. If things are taking too long, then WiFi will have to wait.

well he was talking about more ppl using WiFi in the home, and i was stating that vast majority of WiFi networks in the home are about as secure as a rubber band, do you really want someone saying "well that skyOS is crap someone used my network for free internet"

I donno about all wifi setups but a couple of years ago i bought a network anywhere usb wifi box and it have me nothing but problems i tryed to set it up so that the signal would be encrypted like its supposed to be but it would never keep my settings. It was just useless to me and ever sense then iv stuck with wired. Most likely it was just a pos. I think the problem with wifi is that they default to unencrypted and will connect to anything and everything they can. Make the defaults a little more secure and there shouldnt be a problem.

why doesnt someone make 3rd party wireless stuff? WiFi wasnt built into windows 9x, yet through the magic of 3rd party developers it was possible to use.. not EVERYTHING has to be done by robert you know (no I am not volenteering)
